From the Vicarage

Dear Friends,

Happy New Year!
January is likely to be another cold month, but I hope that it will be warmed for you by good memories of the festive season just past. Thank you to everyone who helped bring joy to our Christmas events.

What better way to start the New Year than with a Sunday? We will still be well within the twelve days of Christmas, so come to our Carol Service at 6 pm on New Years Day. The season officially ends at the Feast of Epiphany when we celebrate the Wise Men visiting Jesus; this will be on Friday 6th January and the service at St Augustine’s is at 6pm.

Christingle is for all the children – and for all who are young at heart- and this year the Christingle service will be on January 29th at 4 pm. This is known as Candlemas Sunday, marking the day when Jesus was presented in the temple and proclaimed as “ a light to lighten the Gentiles”, making the candles in Christingle oranges given to the children very appropriate.

Volunteers to make the Christingles will be needed, please listen to the announcements or have a word with the me, or the Church Wardens June & Grace.

With every blessing for the New Year,

Ann
