From the VicarageThe Fellowship of FaithWhat makes Christians different from people who have never really thought about God or Jesus? Do we behave better than other people? Jesus told us to love everyone, but we don’t always know how to do that. Do we think we’re better ? The bible tells us not to judge other people: instead we’re supposed to watch over our own souls. Are we more obliging? That must depend on what we are being asked to do. Or is there no difference at all? Do we think and say and do just the same things, perhaps even being afraid to say that we disagree with something or want to change it if we think it is against God’s will.People around us are often talking of starting a new fitness programme, going on a diet or beginning an exercise routine. When it comes to Lent (and Ash Wednesday falls on February 21st this year), are you determined enough, or brave enough, to talk of starting a new faith venture? For centuries the Church has urged its members to use Lent as a time of thought, learning and self discipline, helping real Christians to stand apart from the concerns of the rest of the world and consider what Jesus means to them. Is it important to know more about Jesus than you heard in Sunday School? Does the bible have anything to teach you? Does it matter what happens in Church services? During Lent there will be opportunities for you to talk, learn, listen and ask questions on weekdays in St Augustine’s Church. Dare to be different, come along and join in. With every blessing, Ann
