October Opportunities

October sees most people back from their holidays. Even those who don’t usually go to church at home will often drop into a church service when they are away and find encouragement there.

How long is it since you were at St. Augustine’s, your local parish church ? Do you know, or can you remember, how beautiful the church is inside, and how well the choir sing ? What was the last service you attended ? If you are having trouble remembering these things then you are long overdue – we are missing you and you are missing out. Come along on any Sunday in October.

Sunday 14th October is St. Augustine’s Dedication Festival, celebrating when the church building was finished and offered to God. There will be a procession at the 10.30am Eucharist, and in the evening at 6 pm we will be singing Songs of Praise.

Sunday 28th October is the day for our All Soulstide Service, commemorating the souls of the faithful departed at 4pm in church. Names of the deceased to be read out at this service may be written on a list which will be available at services in advance of this date.

Just looking into next month, on 1st November we celebrate All Saints Day at 3pm – a good time if you prefer to avoid the dark.
On Sunday 11th November our Remembrance Day service starts at 10.30am in church and we will process out to the War Memorial in good time to be gathered there at 11am as we did last year. After the Act of Remembrance we will return to our places in church to give thanks for the supreme sacrifice of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

With every blessing,

Ann
